Ortega Indica is considered to be a a medicinal cannabis strain by Dutch Passion. It is a hybrid of Northern Lights Number 1 and another strong cannabis indica, both of which date back to the late seventies. It exudes an extremely penetrating odour redolent of earthy, spicy and tobacco aromas. Dutch Passion's test team reported that Ortega Indica is an excellent variety to smoke before going to sleep, a common feature of all Indica strains but especially pronounced with Ortega Indica. It works as an effective sleeping pill and tranquilizer.

Ortega Indica is special in that its "stone/high" does not produce a cloudy "morning after effect". Wake up with a clear head with this strain. This is rarely the case after taking sleeping pills or tranquilizers. Ortega Indica plants stay small (dwarf-like) and compact and are quite homogenous. The effect is medium strong. Best results indoor and also greenhouses in temperate climates. This plant produces dense, compact buds and an average yield.
